BIO ITALIANO
Nato a Savona il 07.07.1967 inizia a suonare nel 1980. fino al ’90 suona con gruppi e orchestre locali. nel 1990 si trasferisce a milano studiando al c.p.m e suonando con orchestre da ballo come “don miko e i caravan” e “i bravo” di augusto righetti fino al 1993. dal ’93 al ’96 suona con la band “scomunica” , della quale e’ uno dei fondatori, nei maggiori locali del nord italia. nel ’95 realizzano il cd “scomunica”. nel ’95 inizia a collaborare con il chitarrista Ricky Portera che lo portera’ a suonare con paola turci nel ’96 e con Lucio Dalla stabilmente dal 2000. nel 1997 inizia una stabile collaborazione con la band rock italiana piu’ famosa nel mondo: la Premiata Forneria Marconi: nel 2000 conosce Dario Mollo e partecipa ai suoi lavori “voodoo hill” con l’ex deep purple Glenn Hughes e “the cage ii” con l’ex front man dei black sabbath Tony Martin. Dal 1997 tiene dimostrazioni e seminari presentando le batterie Tama e i piatti Zildjian. nel 1999 forma il gruppo “Four Tiles” con Cesareo (elio e le storie tese) alla chitarra, il bassista cantante tedesco Guido Block e Stefano “Sebo” Xotta chitarra. con questo gruppo suona nei maggiori locali proponendo classici del rock.
nel 2004 fonda insieme a Dario Mollo gli Elektric Zoo che , con Graham Bonnet ( rainbow / alcatrazz ) alla voce, iniziano in aprile e maggio il primo tour europeo ( austria, spagna e inghilterra ). lo stesso anno registra il cd di Piero Pelu’ “soggetti smarriti” e partecipa al nuovo tour di P.F.M. e Dolcenera.
Dal 2005 ad oggi continua la collaborazione live e in studio con Dolcenera, P.F.M. e Lucio Dalla e partecipa a varie produzione discografiche, Enzo Jannacci, Nek, Roberto Vecchioni, Loredana Bertè, Nada e Milva tra gli altri.
Dal 2000 tiene i corsi di batteria e batteria rock nella più importante scuola di musica moderna in Italia, Il Centro Professione Musica di Milano diretto da Franco Mussida.
Tiene le rubriche “Rock Drumming” e “Il Suono E Lo Stile” sulla nota rivista di settore Drum Club
Nel 2004 forma insieme al Jazz Master Stefano Bagnoli il drum duo “Il Diavolo & L’Acqua Santa”. I due portano il loro seminario in negozi di musica, scuole ed eventi di settore riscuotendo grandi consensi e la popolarità raggiunta li porterà ad avere nel giugno 2006 la copertina del mensile specializzato Percussioni.
Nel 2007 forma con Dario Mollo, Guido Block e Andrea ”Mitzi” Dal Santo la sua nuova band, NoiZe Machine.
Nel 2008 e 2009, oltre a continuare la collaborazione con PFM ( non continuativa ) e Dolcenera, è coinvolto nelle versione italiana di XFactor realizzando tutte le basi della trasmissione e gli album dei finalisti e la relativa compilation.
2010 collabora inoltre con Paolo Jannacci e la Zelig Orchesttra, con Enzo Jannacci, XFactor e con Dolcenera, oltre ai suoi progetti personali “Il Diavolo & L’Acqua Santa”, NoiZe Machine e Four Tiles.
Vince inoltre il premio come miglior batterista del 2010 messo in palio dalla rivista InSound.
Nel 2011 e 2012 collabora con Roberto Vecchioni, PFM, XFactor e Zelig TV Show.
Nel 2013 è in tour con Ron ma prosegue la collaborazione con PFM, Vecchioni, Faletti e con il talent show XFactor.
Nel 2014 gli impegni prevedono i nuovi dischi e tour di Roberto Vecchioni e Ron e con il PFM World Tour che quest’anno ha toccato Brasile, Guatemala, Messico, Giappone, Usa e ha partecipato a Cruise To The Edge, crociera evento, insieme a Yes, UK, Marillion e molte altre Prog Bands. Prosegue l’impegno con The XFactor e Italia’s Got Talent. Novità di rilievo il disco ed il tour di Twinscapes, nuovo progetto con Lorenzo Feliciati e con Colin Edwin, bassista dei Porcupine Tree.
2015 nuovo tour con PFM in UK, USA e Canada e una nuova edizione di Cruise To The Edge. Prosegue la collaborazione con Vecchioni, XFactor, Twinscapes e Four Tiles. Prende parte all’ evento URBAN ORCHESTRA con Orchestra Milano Classic ed i Rappers Clementino, Ghemon, Ensi, Coez e ad alcune date di Elio E Le Storie Tese.
BIO ENGLISH
Born in Savona the 7th of July 1967 he started to play drums in 1980. Until the 90’s he played with bands and orchestras in the clubs. In 1990 he moved to Milan and started to study at the CPM school while he was playing with several Orchestras such as “don miko e i caravan” and “i bravo” who with he played till 1993. From 1993 to 1996 he played with the band “Scomunica” (he is a founder of this one) in the most important clubs in north Italy. In 1995 they realized the cd “Scomunica”. In 1995 he started to collaborate with the guitarist Ricky Portera who brought him to play with Paola Turci in 1996 and with Lucio Dalla in 2000. In 1997 he started a steady collaboration with the Italian rock band most famous in the world : Premiata Forneria Marconi. In 2000 he met Dario Mollo and took part to his works “voodoo hill” with the ex Deep Purple Glenn Hughes and “the cage II” with the ex Black Sabbath’s front man Tony Martin.
From 1996 he started to teach at the CPM Music Institute, firstly as assistant and after that having his own rock drums course. From 1997 he started to perform his clinics for Tama drums and Zildjian cymbals. In 1999 he formed the band “Four Tiles” with the guitarist Cesareo (Elio e le storie tese band) , the German bass player Guido Block and the guitarist Stefano Xotta . He played with this band in the most important clubs with a classic rock repertoire.
In 2004 he has set up, together with Dario Mollo, the Elektric Zoo who, together with Graham Bonnet (Rainbow / Alcatrazz ) at voice, have been on their first European tour across Austria, Spain and UK in April and May .
During the same year he has recorded Piero Pelù’s cd called’ “soggetti smarriti” and he has taken part to the new P.F.M.’s tour.
Collaboration in live and studio with Dolcenera,Pfm e Lucio Dalla since 2005.
He’s also involved in studio session with many artists such as Enzo Jannacci, Nek, Roberto Vecchioni, XFactor Italian Version to name a few.
Roberto also takes time out to teach in one of Italy’s premier drum schools C.P.M, and regularly contributes to Italian Drummers magazine “Drum Club.”
He’s also a busy clinician, with his personal programmes “Rock Drumming” and “The Working Drummer” and together with one of the most important italian jazz drummer, Stefano Bagnoli, with the drum duo called “Il Diavolo & L’Acqua Santa” (The Devil & The Holy Water)
In addition to this he’s very active in Rock Metal scene collaborating with Dario Mollo, VooDoo Hill (Glenn Hughes), The Cage (Tony Martin), Electrik Zoo (Graham Bonnet) and his own new project, NoiZe Machine.
During 2008 and 2009, Roberto was involved in Xfactor – Italian Edition both recording tracks for the show and finalist’s album, Aram Quartet, Giusy Ferreri, XFactor Compilation. He’s also been recording the first album of his new power band NoiZe Machine and recording and touring with amazing Italian singer and pianist, Dolcenera.
In 2010 his collaboration with Dolcenera, Paolo Jannacci and Zelig Orchesttra and Xfactor Italian Edition, Il Diavolo & L’Acqua Santa, NoiZe Machine e Four Tiles goes on.
He also wins the readers’ poll as “Best Drummer of 2010” of InSound Magazine.
In 2011 and 2012 he’s part of Roberto Vecchioni tour, PFM tour and XFactor and Zelig TV Show.
In 2013 he’s in tour and Studio with Ron, Roberto Vecchioni, Giorgio Faletti and PFM. Collaboration with XFactor TV Show still goes on.
2014 is a pretty busy year for Roberto Gualdi with PFM world tour, including Cruise To The Edge, a Prog cruise with Yes, UK, Marillion and many others bands. He is also involved in TV Show such as The XFactor, Italy’s Got Talent and a new project called Twinscapes with Lorenzo Feliciati and Porcupine Tree bass player Colin Edwin.
He has studied drums with Mauro Gherardi; Enrico Lucchini; Candelo Cabezas and Walter Calloni whom with he came to the diploma, in 1993, at the CPM – Music Institute of Milan. He has studied theory and harmony with Roberto Cipelli and Alessandro Bianchi and percussions with Candelo Cabezas and Giorgio Palombino and African Percussion with Bruno Genero.
